Your Task:

Write a critical essay in which you discuss the concept of revolution from the particular perspective of the statement that is provided for you in the Critical Lens.  In your essay, provide a valid interpretation of the statement, agree or disagree with the statement as you have interpreted it, and support your opinion using specific references to appropriate literary works and apply the correct literary elements (such as themes, characters, and symbols) from two works (one MUST be A Tale of Two Cities, and chose one of these: Five Men, from “Darkness at Noon”, “The Pit and the Pendulum”, or "The Strike").

Critical Lens:

One of the original sins of humanity has been the inability to live at peace. – PW Singer

Guidelines:

  • Provide a valid interpretation of one of the critical lens

  • Indicate whether you agree or disagree with the statement as you have interpreted it

  • Relate two stories to the lens (A Tale of Two Cities, Five Men, from “Darkness at Noon”, and “The Pit and the Pendulum”).
