March Reading and Homework Schedule

Assignments beginning March 25

Tuesday, March 25 = in class finish reading "By the Waters of Babylon" and complete the study guide questions.  Expect a quiz or writing prompt in Wednesday's class.  Discuss roots 111-120.  Roots quiz on Friday.

Wednesday, March 26 = quiz/writing prompt on in class reading of By the Waters of Babylon.  Begin pre-reading activities on John Steinbeck for the novel "Of Mice and Men".  HOMEWORK:  revise writing prompt - due Friday.

Thursday, March 27 = background information on John Steinbeck.  Watch a biography and complete study guide questions.

Friday, March 28 = Roots quiz on Latin roots 101-120.  Finish watching the Steinbeck biography. 

Monday, March 31 = Discuss Latin roots 121-135.  In class - setting and character development notes. Homework - Read Chapter 1and 2 of Of Mice and Men and complete study guide questions.

Tuesday, April 1 = In class - character development and theme notes. Homework - Read Chapter 3 of Of Mice and Men and complete study guide question. Expect a quiz. 

Wednesday, April 2 = In class - setting and character development notes.  Homework - Read Chapter 4 of Of Mice and Men and complete study guide questions. Expect a quiz.

Thursday, April 3 = In class - setting and character development notes.  Homework = Read Chapter 5 of Of Mice and Men and complete study guide question.

Friday, April 4 = Roots quiz on roots 121-135.   Theme discussion/ in class.  Song comparison - Pink Houses by John Mellancamp including writing prompt (paragraph).  Receive writing prompt (creative) - Write Chapter 7 - what happens next in .  Homework - Read Chapter 6 of Of Mice and Men and complete study guide question. Expect a quiz.  Homework - Creative writing task due Tuesday, April 8.

Monday, April 7 = In class - theme notes, foreshadowing review.  Film.  Reminder Creative writing task due Tuesday, April 8.  Receive analytical writing prompt - due THURSDAY!

Tuesday, April 8 - Creative Essay Due.  In class - film.  Reminder.  Analytical writing prompt due Thursday.

Wednesday, April 9 = In class - quick review of novel and literary terms.  TOMORROW Of Mice and Men final AND Analytical Essay due.

Thursday, April 10 = Of Mice and Men Final
